TUSKEGEE, AL (WTVM) – As part of Black History Month, one of the daughters of civil rights leader Malcolm X gave a speech at Tuskegee University.
Her message is building bridges between cultures for young leaders of the world.
Organizers say Ilyasah Al-Shabazz’s speech was part of the university’s Lyceum Series.
They also say Al-Shabazz’s address is one of several that will take place at the university during Black History Month.
“She’s now giving our students a great lesson in history on what her father did and how they can continue on the legacy. The one thing that we really try to hone in on during black history month is just the importance of understanding how you fit into that larger picture,” Sheena Harris said, student engagement initiatives coordinator.
My goal is to empower future generations through understanding the world’s diverse cultures and historic civilizations.
