Audiobook Launch: “The Autobiography of Malcolm X”

TODAY’s Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones interview Ilyasah Shabazz, daughter of the renowned civil rights leader Malcolm X, and award-winning actor Laurence Fishburne in time for the release of “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” on Audible.

Ilyasah Shabazz gets to share her take on the continuing relevance of Malcolm X to the pursuit of social change. Shabazz discusses her optimism for the increased political awareness of the youth against the recent backdrop of the Black Lives Movement. She also reveals some of her experiences growing up with her late father’s values and his legacy.

Lawrence Fishburne, who narrates the audible version of “The Autobiography of Malcolm X,” talks about the role of his racial identity in preparing as narrator of the life of the influential civil rights leader.  He also shares his biggest takeaway from Malcolm X’s life story and teachings.
