Ilyasah and Kekla received the 2016 Coretta Scott King Author Honor for “X: A novel”

2016 American Library Association Annual Conference in Orlando.

The Coretta Scott King Book Awards are presented annually by the Ethnic & Multicultural Information Exchange(EMIERT), a round table of the American Library Association. African American authors and illustrators are recognized for their deep appreciation of African American culture, values and experiences through their literary work and focus on youth audiences.
